CloseIn October of 2024, we travelled to Paul Reed Smith Guitars to spend a day in the Private Stock Wood Vault to select wood kits for a handful of exceptional Private Stock builds. This is the third of those builds to arrive to our store. This exceptional Private Stock McCarty 594 Tremolo features a gorgeous Buckeye Burl top with a slight shaded burst along the edge, creating a wonderful contrast for the natural reveal binding on the body. The body is a beautiful piece of Swamp Ash with the coveted Cathedral grain pattern, finished in Charcoal Wash with a dark grain fill. While picking the wood kit for this build, Paul Miles (head of Private Stock) found the last remaining piece of marbled Hormigo they had on-hand for the neck. We paired that stunning neck with a Hormigo fretboard with a strong section of sapwood along the bass side of the fretboard for a beautiful contrast. Within that sapwood, we opted to utilize PRS's Small Offset birds, giving the appearance of birds flying across a landscape. The neck and headstock are also bound in Buckeye Burl - an impressive task considering how difficult it is to bend Buckeye Burl. We hand-selected these woods to provide an instrument that isn't just stunning in appearance, but also provides a wide breadth of tones and a inviting and rewarding playing experience.
