In October of 2024, we travelled to Paul Reed Smith Guitars to spend a day in the Private Stock Wood Vault to select wood kits for a handful of exceptional Private Stock builds. This is one of those special guitars.

While searching through all the tops in the Private Stock Wood Vault, this particular Buckeye Burl top really jumped out at us! The knots and inclusions below the bridge reminded us of Oogey Boogey from The Nightmare Before Christmas - so much so that we had to snag this gnarly top for this very unique 7-string build. For this one, we chose a Black Limba body, a beautiful AAA East Indian Rosewood neck, and a VERY dramatic Pale Moon Ebony fretboard. When it came time to dictate the pickups for this guitar, we knew there was only one option for this build - Velvetrone Ironside + Solium. For those not familiar, Velvetrone is a pickup brand that is manufactured by Mayones Guitars in Poland. For 7-string guitars, these are without a doubt our favorite pickups on the planet! So we knew that when putting together this top-tier 7-string Private Stock build, your normal, everyday, off-the-shelf pickups just weren't going to suit this guitar the best. And this guitar is all about the best of the best from top to bottom! To be able to have this one-off collaboration between two of the best guitar builders on the planet is quite an honor, and we couldn't be more pleased that the folks at Paul Reed Smith agreed to source these pickups for this very special build!
