This amazing Spector USA NS-5XL is a very special custom build from the Spector USA Custom Shop. When configuring this bass, we wanted to develop a Swiss Army knife Spector, capable of an enormous array of tones. To achieve this, we developed a custom electronics circuit that is completely unique to this build and not found in any other Spector bass on the planet! The basis of this custom circuit is built around the EMG P5X and 40TWX pickups. The EMG 40TWX is a unique pickup that has both a humbucker and single coil housed in one casing. This unique design allows for a coil tap that isn't really a coil tap - you're actually switching from humbucker pickup to a true single coil pickup, rather than just splitting the coil of the humbucker. For the electronics layout, we went with a Master Volume, 3-way Rotary pickup selector (bridge, bridge/neck, neck), a Darkglass Tone Capsule 3-band EQ, and a mini toggle to switch between the humbucker coil and single coil in the bridge pickup. This gives an expansive tonal array suitable for any genre, and makes this bass the ultimate tone machine.
